ABOUT US 

We are a small, family-run business based in Zanzibar, built on a deep love for the ocean and the island we call home.

Stanley, the proud owner, has spent most of his life by the sea. With a natural connection to the ocean and years of experience on the water, he gradually turned his vision into reality by building his own boat and creating something of his own.

In August 2024, we started this journey with our very first trip, and since then, our boat, Maria, has been filled with guests from all over the world. Each trip has brought new stories, laughter, and unforgettable moments at sea.

Together, we put our heart into every experience, welcoming each guest like a friend and making sure you leave with memories that last far beyond your time in Zanzibar.

Captain Roger is an experienced captain known for his calm and reassuring presence. With his friendly personality, and commitment to safety, he ensures every trip is enjoyable for everyone on board.

Our assistant captain and snorkeling guide, Baya. With his friendly personality and knowledge of the local waters, he helps create a safe and unforgettable experience.

Captain Yahaya is a skilled navigator and charismatic leader, ensuring smooth sailing and an enjoyable experience for all guests with over 25 years of experience.

Maria

Our Original Dhow – Built in Tanga, Tanzania, in 2024.

Handcrafted on the coast of Tanga, Tanzania, Maria is where the Maria Ocean Breeze story began. Built using traditional Swahili boat-building techniques, she combines authentic craftsmanship with comfort for an unforgettable day at sea.

With space for up to 12 guests, Maria is perfect for private trips, couples, families, and small groups looking for a relaxed and personal experience. Whether you're snorkeling, sailing, or simply enjoying the turquoise waters of Zanzibar, every journey aboard Maria is made to create lasting memories.

Maria II

Our Rooftop Dhow – Built in Lindi, Tanzania, in 2026.

Built on the southern coast of Lindi, Maria II represents the next chapter of Maria Ocean Breeze. Combining traditional dhow craftsmanship with modern design, she features a spacious rooftop deck offering stunning panoramic views of the Indian Ocean.

With capacity for up to 25 guests, Maria II is ideal for shared tours, private tours, celebrations, and larger groups. Designed for comfort, space, and unforgettable moments, she brings people together to experience the beauty of Zanzibar from the sea.

At Maria Ocean Breeze, we carefully match each booking with the dhow that best suits the trip, group size, and the overall experience. This allows us to provide the highest level of comfort and service for every guest.

While we don't accept bookings for a specific dhow, you're always welcome to let us know if you have a preference. We'll do our very best to accommodate your request whenever possible, but we cannot guarantee a particular boat.
